When Subaru redesigns one of their vehicles, standard procedure dictates that you dislike it at first, then let it slowly grow on you until you like it. For some redesigns, this process take longer than others.

I saw this 2014 Forester XT today, and it looked spectacular, with its Satin White Pearl paint sparkling in the sunlight. The front end treatment wasn't obtrusive, and the metallic gray wheels with machined faces looked perfectly suited for the car's purpose. All of this almost made up for not having a hood-scoop. Almost.

It certainly loses something in photographs.

I think it looks good! Remember the uproar about the bugeye, now everyone loves it!

Man alive im glad they got rid of the hood scoop. It obstructs your view and does nothing that the internally routed one does except be louder and collect more bugs.

Frankly, I think all Subaru's are ugly, but that's part of the charm. Having driven a 2014 XT, its a fine choice in segment, but pretty boring compared to my old 05.

I've loved these since the first day I saw them, and everyone thought I was crazy.

I totally know what you mean. About a month ago I saw a bronze-ish brown-ish one. Slick looking thing in the metal

Yeah it's butt ugly, but I've decided there hasn't been a beautiful Subaru for many many years. I still love them.

Aftermarket bumper cover would rescue that, I think..

You're completely right about the scoop obstructing your view. In my LGT it was ok, but in our 09FXT it's just bulbous and huge... and I'm even 6'2" so I can typically see over the hood just fine

That is part of Subaru's charm. There's only been one good looking Subaru- the 4th gen Legacy. I first thought these were hideous... and they still are in pictures, but they definitely have a presence to them when you see one in the flesh. Hoping to pick one of these up after they come back from lease duty in 2 more years

The hood scoop on a Forester obstructs your view? Of what? How low do you sit in the thing?

I'm only 5'7", but I only have a 29" inseam, so the rest of me sits tall in the saddle. That's probably why I never notice the scoop.
